When you find a bus stop which is called "$1 bus", it's OK for you to ride on the bus just by $1(RMB1).

It is easily found out by checking the sign "单一票价一元" as you see here.

You ride on the bus, and pay 1RMB by dropping it in a box in the bus.

That'll be fine.
